Direct Service Projects
ORGANIZATION NAME: Green Earth, Inc.
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To preserve natureal areas for the benefit of the people of Carbondale, IL.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Removal of invasive plant species from the woodland to improve the overall ecology and/or improving existing nature trails by buiding up trail surfaces and repairing footbridges. Volunteers must be willing to work outdoors and able to navigate wooded ares with uneven terrain.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To inspire and enable all yound people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as caring, responsible, and productive citizens.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will paint, clean, and do minor repairs. There will be both indoor and outdoor projects.
ORGANIZATION NAME: SIU Student Sustainable Farm
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To give students the chance to grow fresh, healthy food and conduct research with sustainable and organiz farming methods.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Spring planting and bed preparation which includes washing seed trays, planting vegetables, weeding, hoeing, turning and harvesting compost. Volunteers should wear shoes and clothing that can get muddy.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Touch of Nature
ORGANIZATION MISSION: The mission of Touch of Nature Environmental Center is to enhance learning, promote professional development, encourage personal and interpersonal development, and increase environmental awareness.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Students will be picking up trash, sticks, and debris to prepare for the ucoming camp season. Volunteers should wear shoes and appropriate clothing.
ORGANIZATION NAME: For Kids' Sake
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To create a sustainable program that provides underprivileged children with quality education, good health, right livelihood, and a safe environment. We support 4,000 orphans and students in 6 facilities in Bangladesh.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will help break down frames for the 19th annual art auction, sell raffle tickets for are auction funraiser, and address envelopes for spring mass mailing.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Alzheimer's Association
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will collect donations and hand out brochures.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Keep Carbondale Beautiful
ORGANIZATION MISSION: Keep Carbondale Beautiful initiates, plans, and directs cooperative efforts in litter control, recycling, community beautification, and environmental education.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will receive street assignments and pick up litter on the street and in the environment. Bags and gloves will be provided. Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Habitat for Humanity, Jackson & Union County
ORGANIZATION MISSION: Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will build bird houses which will then be sold to raise money.

ORGANIZATION MISSION: We are transforming the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative work for upcoming projects and events.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Humane Society of Southern Illinois
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To provide humane care and treatment for all creatures needing protection in the area.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleaning out taxis, trimming trees along the driveway, planting flowers, maying mulch, cleaning/scooping the yard, sorting newspapers, and painting the cat adoption room.
ORGANIZATION NAME: St. Francis Animal CARE
SERVICE PROJECTS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance around the facility.
ORGANIZATION NAME: All Species Earth Day Parade
ORGANIZATION MISSION: Conducting educational workshops with children and families; helping them learn about and celebrate Earth's biodiversity through the creation of parade style animal and other species puppets for the Carbondale All Species Earth Day Parade to be held on April 22.
SERVICE PROJECTS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with children and families in conceiving, cutting, assembling and painting large parade style puppets.
ORGANIZATION NAME: Eurma C. Hayes Center
ORGANIZATION MISSION: Provide space for organizations that wish to provide social services and/or community development for Carbondale community.
SERVICE PROJECTS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will be painting rooms, removing materials, helping with maintenance of the property, and working in The Women's Center satellite office.

ORGANIZATION NAME: Wesley Foundation
ORGANIZATION MISSION: To help local food pantries.
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will be working on food packaging for local food pantries (rice, beans, or oatmeal).
ORGANIZATION NAME: St. Andrews Episcopal Church
SERVICE PROJECT/RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers will make plastic sleeping mats for the homeless.
